Jared Leto and Chris Evans are in talks to join the high-wattage cast of The Girl on the Train, DreamWorks’ adaptation of the Paula Hawkins best-seller.

Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson and Haley Bennett are already on board the project, which centers on Rachel (Blunt), a woman who’s jobless and an alcoholic and who spends her daily train ride fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple living in a house that she passes.

After coming home one night covered in blood and unable to remember much from a blackout drinking episode, she begins to realize that she may have witnessed or been involved in a crime.

Ferguson is playing Anna, the former mistress and current wife of Rachel’s ex-husband. Bennett is set to play Megan, a married neighbor with whom Rachel becomes obsessed.

Evans would play Tom, the ex-husband, and Leto would play the neighbor’s husband, but sources say one stumbling block to an eventual deal is scheduling for both actors.

Tate Taylor is directing the project, which has a script by Erin Cressida Wilson. Marc Platt is producing the film, which will be executive produced by Jared LeBoff and Celia Costas.

Leto, repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment, next stars as the Joker in Warner Bros.’ antihero superhero movie, Suicide Squad.

Evans, repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment, just wrapped shooting Captain America: Civil War. [Source]

Nowadays, it’s easy to see that for most actors contemplating a role in a Marvel Studios movie, the decision is a quick one. But back when the studio was first starting, there was hesitance and even a degree of patronization for this comic-book/entertainment company thinking they were going to produce their own movies. Clearly things worked out well, as president Kevin Feige guided the company to an unprecedented inter-connected universe plan and record-setting box office, but one actor who was famously wavering over whether to join the MCU early on was Chris Evans.

The actor was highly hesitant to join the project before eventually signing on to lead Captain America: The First Avenger, and when Steve recently sat down with Evans in anticipation of his directorial debut Before We Go (in theaters and VOD September 4th), the actor confirmed that while his current Marvel contract only runs through Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Part 2, he’s more than happy to extend his stay:

“Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me. I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such—I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor.”

Evans went on to candidly address his initial reluctance to sign on for The First Avenger:

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige explains “Captain America: Civil War’s” plot.

Feige sat down with Zap2it and revealed that the second post credits scene in “Ant-Man” actually takes place in the middle of “Civil War,” and that it will “play a part at a cerain point in that film.”

He also compared “Avengers: Age of Ultron” which “had a lot going on” to the upcoming movie, which he reveals will actually be “simple.”

“Civil War’ is a relatively simple story,” Feige explained, adding the movie “is a surprisingly grounded story about two characters that most audience members have come to know and like and admire finding themselves on different sides of a political argument, like the country does on many occasions, and how they both respond to that.

“That’s the story. So it’s actually a very, very simple story, and then how their personal relationships fit into that.”

Franchise star Chris Evans also spoke about “Captain America: Civil War’s” plot and described it to be some sort of a “family” affair.

“We definitely have gloves on, but it’s more of a family dispute. That’s what’s so great about this movie and the characters and how they work together. It’s more so when you have a sibling rivalry,” Evans told IGN. “The reason people can relate to these characters so much is because they can relate to what they’re going through.”

Chris Evans of Sudbury will narrate “America’s Game,” the NFL Network’s story about the Patriots’ 2014 Super Bowl win, he said in a tweet Tuesday night. The show will air Sept. 8 at 10 p.m.

In the trailer for the show, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Devin McCourty all comment on the season as scenes from the Super Bowl play. A highlight is when Malcolm Butler’s game-winning interception is spliced together with Tom Brady emitting a high-pitched scream and jumping up and down. Evans’s voiceover does not appear.

“No matter what happens in the rest of your football career,” said McCourty, “you can say, ‘I was a Super Bowl champion, I felt the confetti fall on me.’”

Evans, best known for his role as Captain America in the “Avengers” movies, is somewhat of a Patriots superfan. He made a 2014 Super Bowl bet with Seattle fan Chris Pratt. When Pratt (and Seattle) lost, Pratt had to dress as his character from “Guardians of the Galaxy” — but sporting a Tom Brady jersey — and visit children at a Boston charity. Evans also appeared in Jimmy Kimmel’s “Locker Room Guy” video with other Boston-area celebrities, such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, mocking Deflategate. [Source]
